What Is the Wolverine Stack?
The Wolverine Stack is the nickname the fitness and recovery community gave to the combination of BPC-157 and TB-500, two peptides frequently discussed for their potential to support soft-tissue repair. The name references the rapid-healing comic book character rather than any clinical trial or FDA designation.
No regulatory body has evaluated a fixed “Wolverine Stack” formulation; it’s a popular pairing built from the separate research histories of each peptide, and we treat it that way below.
Meet the Two Peptides
BPC-157
A synthetic 15-amino-acid sequence modeled on a protective compound found naturally in human gastric juice. It has been studied for more than three decades, almost entirely in rodent models, by a research group at the University of Zagreb led by Dr. Predrag Sikiric. Their work proposes that BPC-157 supports new blood vessel growth, helps regulate the nitric oxide system, and speeds healing of tendon, ligament, muscle, and gut tissue in laboratory settings.
TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4)
The lab name for a synthetic version of a fragment of thymosin beta-4, a small protein the body already produces to help cells migrate, rebuild the cytoskeleton, and modulate inflammation. Most of the peer-reviewed research on this peptide comes from wound-healing, dermal, and cardiac-tissue studies rather than sports-medicine trials, so its case for tendon or ligament recovery is more theoretical than the case for BPC-157.
Why Athletes and Clinicians Pair Them
The rationale for stacking the two is mechanistic rather than clinically proven: BPC-157 is proposed to help form new vasculature and organize collagen at an injury site, while TB-500 is proposed to help cells migrate into that site and calm local inflammation. Combined, the theory goes, they address more steps of the healing cascade than either peptide would alone.

Pairing BPC-157 + TB-500 in Tendon Healing (Rat Study)
A July 2026 rat Achilles-tendon study directly tested this pairing: TB-500 alone produced a significant biomechanical gain and improved tendon architecture, and BPC-157 trended positive — but the combination showed no additional benefit over either peptide alone, which the authors suggest may reflect overlap in their downstream repair pathways.

Both BPC-157 papers above are open-access and worth reading in full, but both are animal research; we are not aware of a large, controlled human clinical trial for BPC-157 published to date.
Regulatory & Safety Status You Should Know
Both peptides’ bulk-substance nominations were previously placed in the FDA’s Category 2 list for compounding — the category reserved for substances the agency views as raising significant safety risks. As of the FDA’s most recent update, content current as of April 22, 2026, both nominations have been withdrawn by their nominators, which removes them from the active Category 2 table, though this is not the same as FDA approval for human use.

At the FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee meeting on July 23–24, 2026, both peptides in this stack were recommended for the Section 503A pharmacy-compounding bulks list — BPC-157 in an 8–6 vote (one abstention) and TB-500 alongside it. These are non-binding recommendations, not FDA approvals: the agency has issued no final decision, and neither peptide is approved for human use as of this update.
